Navy advancement processes are broken up into designated time periods called cycles. During an advancement cycle, Sailors compete with peers to garner limited quotas to fill vacancies at the next paygrade. Each cycle begins with exam ordering based on eligibility requirements, such as a Sailor's Time-in-Rate and other mandated advancement eligibility factors. Then, during a cycle, exams are administered, scored, and individual Final Multiple Scores are calculated. A cycle is completed when advancement determinations are published and all pay increments are promulgated. There are three different dropdown lists for this parameter: one each for the month and year during which the exam takes place, and one for the corresponding numerical value for the cycle. If you change the month of year, the cycle number will change to the corresponding value, and vice versa.
